In this expansion, you basically step straight into the Necropolis of the Damned—a dark, cursed alternate route in Act 4 that gives you a whole new ending for Across the Obelisk. Right after Act 3, a second portal shows up, and you get the choice to ditch the normal path and dive into this forgotten kingdom swallowed by shadows.
Down there, you’ll explore creepy new zones, try out dual-class heroes, and slowly uncover the twisted story behind the Count, the Princess, and the Queen who straight-up refused to die.
The whole thing leans into classic gothic horror vibes, with tragic lore, strange bosses, and enemies that feel like they crawled out of some dark fairytale. The Necropolis itself is ruled by witches, were-creatures, and full-on vampires, so you already know things are gonna get wild. You also get two new heroes to add to your team—Velarion, the Blood Mage who mixes healer and mage skills, and Nevermoor, the Death Knight, basically a warrior-healer hybrid who looks like he walked straight out of a metal album cover.
There are even new mechanics to mess with, like Infuse Aura and Leech Curse, plus terrain effects like Blood Mist and Infestation that can completely change how you approach fights. The bosses also get way more creative—like battling a suit of shifting Phantom Armor, going up against Franky who’s basically juiced on lightning, and surviving a final boss fight split into three brutal phases.
On top of that, you can collect new cards, equipment, and even a few themed pets—Spooky, Lychee, and Batsy. And with fresh perks and extra dialogue options for your heroes, it’s honestly one of the most customizable and story-heavy additions the game’s ever gotten.
