The new variant civilizations are inspired by legendary Eastern dynasties, each with their own playstyle, units and strategies. The Golden Horde (Mongols Variant) ditches nomadic living for pure power — build multiple Ovoos, command from your Khan’s golden tent, and lead massive, unstoppable charges.
The Macedonian Dynasty (Byzantines Variant) puts you in charge of the mighty Varangian warriors under Emperor Basil II, using a strong economy fueled by Silver to crush your enemies. Then there’s the Sengoku Daimyo (Japanese Variant), where you pledge loyalty to one of three clans — Takeda, Oda, or Hojo — each giving unique bonuses and techs so you can shape your clan’s destiny your own way.

Each of these civilizations comes with its own vibe and mechanics that shake up the old meta, meaning every match feels fresh. But that’s not all — The Crucible, the brand-new single-player mode, changes everything. This mode mixes classic RTS gameplay with unpredictable twists, evolving challenges and endless enemy waves that push your strategy skills to the limit.
It is all about endurance adaptation and pure survival. Every run feels different with randomized objectives, dynamic maps and permanent meta-progression that rewards you for lasting longer and improving your tactics.
During missions, you’ll unlock Boons — special upgrades and abilities that give you game-changing powers mid-battle. You will also find Points of Interest scattered around the map with hidden rewards guarded by powerful enemies. The longer you survive, the more Perk Points you earn to unlock permanent upgrades between missions. And the most important thing? Protect your Wonder. Once it is gone, you are done.
On top of all that, there are six new biomes to explore from the tropical rainforests and peaceful autumn forests to volcanic beaches and mythic Greek islands. Every environment doesn’t just look great — it adds tactical depth too.
The eight new maps also keep things interesting, ranging from competitive maps like Craters, Ridges, and Nomadic Tarns, to more chaotic and creative ones like Cliffsanity (packed with chokepoints and treasure) and Michi, where enemies lurk behind massive forests.
