It’s been 20 years since the events of the first game, and things have gotten even worse. The virus basically won, and most of humanity is either dead or struggling to survive. You play as Aiden Caldwell, a wandering Pilgrim who travels between the few surviving settlements, delivering supplies, carrying messages, and helping people stay connected in this destroyed world. But Aiden has another reason for traveling. He’s searching for his younger sister Mia, who he was forced to leave behind when they were kids because of Dr. Waltz’s cruel experiments. After spending years trying to forget his past, Aiden eventually learns that Mia might still be alive in Villedor, one of the last major cities where humans are still surviving. When Aiden arrives in Villedor, he quickly gets caught up in the city’s conflicts. Different groups are fighting for control, while zombies are constantly causing problems. You’ll have to fight your way through hordes of infected using different weapons, creative combat moves, and whatever else you can find. At the same time, you’ll explore the city, search abandoned places for useful loot, and meet different survivors who can either become your allies or cause even more trouble. Villedor is basically a completely different place depending on the time of day. During the daytime, survivors try to live normal lives, build relationships, make plans, and pretend that everything is okay. But once the sun goes down, the city becomes a much more dangerous place. Powerful infected creatures come out of hiding and take over the streets. If you stay outside for too long at night, you might not make it back alive. The world was already falling apart after the Fall, a huge disaster caused by the spread of the Harran virus. By 2036, only a small number of human settlements are left, while infected creatures have become the dominant force in the world. Humanity is slowly disappearing, and Villedor is one of the last places where people are still trying to survive and rebuild their lives. One of the coolest parts of the game is the parkour system. You don't always have to fight your way through every situation. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is just run. Aiden can jump between rooftops, climb buildings, swing across gaps, use ziplines, and move through the city incredibly quickly. Parkour makes exploring Villedor feel really fun, especially when you're running across rooftops looking for loot or trying to escape something chasing you.
Combat is also a huge part of surviving. You can use all kinds of weapons to take down enemies, whether you prefer smashing them, cutting them up, or using the environment around you. You can even combine combat with parkour to surprise enemies and get the advantage. There are also tons of weapons scattered around Villedor, so you have plenty of options when it comes to fighting. You don't have to survive everything alone either. The game supports up to four players in co-op, so you can team up with three other friends. Together, you can explore Villedor, work through the story, complete Pilgrim Outpost challenges, collect loot, and just cause complete chaos throughout the city. Playing with friends makes surviving the infected world a lot more interesting and gives you even more ways to experience the game.
