You start off as a mysterious patient who’s rescued from a CDC lab in Atlanta. Barely alive, you’re taken in by the kind people of Urban town shelter, deep in the south. Now, you’ve gotta rise up, rebuild the camp, and bring hope back to the survivors. But it’s not all about playing nice—you’ll need to either negotiate with or go to war with ruthless factions. The game’s weapon variety is insane, and each one feels different in its own way. You’ve got handguns, shotguns, hunting rifles, assault rifles, and sniper rifles—all useful depending on the situation. Handguns and shotguns are great for close combat with shotguns dealing crazy damage with each pellet.
Assault rifles are all about tearing through multiple enemies in a burst, and snipers? They can take out targets from way far away with precision headshots. But it’s not just ranged weapons—anything you can wield, from frying pans to custom baseball bats, can be used as a melee weapon to smash zombies or enemies.
As you explore, you will meet NPCs all trying to survive the apocalypse in their own way. Some are willing to help you, but don’t forget—they’ll want something in return. Everyone’s got an agenda in Urban Strife. The town’s divided between three main factions: rebel soldiers, a zombie-loving cult, and a brutal biker gang. You can ally with any of them, but keep in mind—no alliance is going to be easy or morally clear. This is an apocalypse and survival comes at a cost.
Your home base, Urban Shelter, is in ruins, packed with refugees and overrun by bandits and zombies. It’s up to you to take control, rebuild and start expanding. You will need to scavenge for resources, earn the trust of the locals and turn the shelter into a real haven. Depending on your allies, you can unlock unique upgrades to improve your shelter, making it feel more rewarding as you go.
The game uses a classic Action Points system, similar to Jagged Alliance 2, with turn-based combat that’s fast-paced and strategic. Zombies are a big challenge—they’re slow, but there are a lot of them. To deal with this, there’s a special “horde turn” where all the undead move at once, but each AI gets to make its own decisions.
As Urban Strife progresses through Early Access, more content and features will be added. Get ready for a gritty, survival-packed experience where every choice counts.
