You get to pick from a bunch of leagues around the globe and lead your team to victory. And yeah, it’s got that NHL® license, so you can totally run your favorite team and chase after the Stanley Cup®. If you’re more into the international scene, you can take control of a national team and shoot for world domination.
Feeling nostalgic? You can jump into historical mode and start in any year of NHL® history, play legendary tournaments, or (and this is new) go for a minor league throwback. And if you’re the creative type, you can even build your own custom league, now with international play included. Oh, and if you’ve been grinding in FHM10, don’t sweat it—you can bring your old save into FHM11 and keep the action going with all the new stuff. However you play, you’re the boss. You handle the team’s finances, set up strategies, hire staff, trade players, sign free agents, and draft the next big stars. The goal? Build a championship team—and maybe even a dynasty.
What’s new in FHM11? A bunch of stuff! Now you can have international tournaments in custom leagues, and historical mode has added minor league hockey with the full history of the American Hockey League, all the way back to 1940. Trading AI’s gotten smarter, so no more cheap loopholes, and European transfers have also had a big upgrade. Oh, and the NHL’s new 4Nations Faceoff Tournament is now part of the game too.
Owners now have demands—ignore them, and you might be out of a job. But if you keep them happy, you’re golden. Player development tracking lets you see how your guys are growing, and coaches now have specific tactical preferences that make them even better at what they do.
They’ve also tweaked the player pool, so there’s not an overflow of NHL-level talent early in the game, and long-term player generation is more balanced. The 2D engine got an upgrade, improve passing and play execution, so games feel even smoother.
There’s new league reports, like demographics and draft busts/sleepers, and better AI roster management in the off-season. Playoff previews are now a thing, and as always, full player and team updates for the 2024-25 season are included, along with mid-season award previews and loads of interface tweaks and improvements. It’s pretty stacked, honestly!
