OVERVIEW OF CAVE CRUSADE
Alright, so this game is a simple roguelike deckbuilder, made for people who don’t want to spend hours on a single run. It’s super quick-paced, but still has that classic roguelike feel. If you’re into stuff like Slay the Spire or similar games, you’ll totally get the vibe here. The game tilt on a card-upgrading system and a mix of active and inactive artifacts that can really change the way you handle different Conditions.
One of the coolest features is this “Wheel of Fortune” thing—you can spin it for gold, HP, or one of the artifacts you already have. Most of the time, the rewards are pretty solid, but there’s always that risk of getting cursed. Oh, and once you win cards or artifacts, you’re stuck with them—no take-backs. Sometimes you might even walk away with fewer coins than you spent, but hey, that’s the gamble.
Every time you hit one of these events, your first spin actually levels up the wheel’s quality until it hits epic, and then it resets. There are a bunch of event types you’ll run into—like normal encounters, elites, bosses, rest spots, shops (where you can refresh items), treasure chests, and of course, the Wheel of Fortune.
As for characters, you have got a few fun choices. The Archer’s your aggressive option, and they can even summon a pet for extra damage. The Mage is all about tricky moves and managing these conjured orbs as resources—it’s a bit more complex but super satisfying. Then there’s the Paladin, who’s the tanky one, able to heal and reflect damage back at enemies.
It’s fast, it’s fun, and there’s just enough randomness to keep each run interesting.
