The story kicks off with Mr. A (that’s a pseudonym) moving into a new house, where he stumbles upon an old video camera. Out of pure curiosity, he fires it up and discovers some seriously weird and inexplicable images on the screen.
This game is a walk simulator that gives you a horror vibe as you experience the recreated footage, almost as if you’re the one behind the camera. The whole project started when someone reached out to the creator, saying they’d found a video camera by chance. The idea was to turn the weird footage recorded on it into a game. The game uses actual audio from interviews and Rebuilds the footage based on those conversations, bringing to life the horror that come’s from real events. With the help of Unreal Engine 5—yep, the same engine used in film production—they’ve nailed the quality of the video camera footage down to the tiniest detail.
You get to relive the mysterious and unsettling images captured on the camera through the eyes of the filmmaker. The footage itself is totally unclear about its purpose, but it relationships in with online movements like Liminal Space and the Backrooms. Honestly, even the creator admits they don’t fully grasp all the layers of Mr. A’s story, so they hope players will piece together the truth based on the recreated video and Mr. A’s words.
If you’re thinking about streaming the game, there are a few rules to follow. Your video needs to include the entire end roll without cutting any audio or video, and you have to mention the game in the title or description. Plus, the video can’t be for paying members only—no exclusivity there!
