You’ll need to track down and take out the SWAPO insurgents who sneak across the border, mess with the locals, lay mines, and ambush your troops. But SWAPO isn’t the only threat—the Angolan army (FAPLA) is also in the mix. FAPLA is a Soviet-backed, conventional army with bigger plans than SWAPO. They’re looking to take over the whole region as a stepping stone to unifying Angola under communist rule.

FAPLA gives SWAPO a safe place to operate from, but their main focus is wiping out UNITA, a faction backed by the USA and South Africa. To complete your COIN mission, you’ll need to coordinate ground troops, special forces, artillery, mechanized units, and even the local forces (SWATF) and air force.
