OVERVIEW OF AD ASTRA: SCI-FI TOWER DEFENSE

In the distant future, humanity is out there hunting for resources on alien worlds to keep expanding and pushing forward. But they are not alone. A sentient machine race has taken over, and they’re fighting for control of the stars just like humanity is. As Commander, it is on you to lead the charge and Safe dominance for the human race. Your duty? Protect critical outposts, build strongholds on alien planets, and harvest the precious resources that could tip the scales in this battle for the galaxy.

You’ll need to build and conquer by setting up resource-gathering structures while defending them from waves of machine enemies. It’s all about balancing offense and defense—place your structures strategically and set up the right defenses to hold your ground.

Deploy futuristic towers that can unleash powerful cannons, laser beams, and missile salvos to obliterate the machine horde. But be careful! As the enemy keeps coming stronger, you’ll need to upgrade your towers through three tiers of destruction. Can you gather enough advanced metals, gases and composites to boost your defenses and protect your base from the ever-growing threat?

You’re gonna face some seriously diverse alien machines, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. You will need to adapt your strategies to take down armored mecha-beasts, fast infiltrators, shielded giants, and swarms of bio-mechanical nightmares.

The environments you defend in will vary too. From rocky hills to frozen alien moon’s and blazing deserts, each terrain come’s with its own challenges. Be ready to adapt to whatever’s thrown at you.

And while you’re fighting, you’ll be bumping to some killer retro arcade sci-fi tunes by Ovani Sound. Get in the zone with your favorite beats or tweak the sound to your liking in the music player.

The game runs great on Steam Deck with low settings, and it’s got Steam Cloud saves so you can pick up right where you left off across any PC or Steam Deck.

Your task: survive the oncoming war and manage your resources wisely to defend humanity’s last hope across the galaxy. Will you rise to the challenge or be just another casualty in the war against the Zephyr Horde?

Ad Astra offers three game modes—Quick, Standard, and Infinite. Each mode challenge’s you to balance base-building with defending against stronger waves of enemies. Can you keep up and hold your ground?

Fight your way through three biomes and nine levels (with more to come post-launch) to secure your high score. As you progress, remember that your turrets range from Tier 1 to Tier 3, but building them requires rare resources, and if you’re not careful, they can damage your own base. Think ahead, place your defenses wisely, and maximize your firepower while minimizing friendly fire.

As you conquer the game’s challenges, you’ll earn achievements and wear them with pride. Show off those badges of honor to prove you’ve got what it takes to overcome what others couldn’t.

I’m a solo indie dev who’s been into games my whole life. I grew up on classics like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Commander Keen.
