OVERVIEW OF RETRACE THE LIGHT
It’s the year 3323, and humanity teamed up with a super-advanced AI called Primus to create the Meta Mirror Project — basically a huge system designed to stabilize society by fixing the minds of people dealing with emotional chaos. It’s wild, but it works… most of the time.
You play as Enforcer Decem, someone whose whole job is diving into these trippy Mirrormazes that are formed from people’s thoughts. Inside, you solve puzzles, fight weird nightmare-creatures called Mirrormares, and try to piece everything together. But after one duty goes horribly wrong, Decem wakes up badly injured with zero memories and the travel becomes all about relearning who you are and To expose what is really going on behind the Meta Mirror Project.
Your main ability is called Retrace, which lets you teleport back to spots you’ve already visited. You can use it to dodge enemies at the last second, sneak behind them for clutch surprise attacks, or pull off clever puzzle solves that make you feel like a genius. The bosses you face are all born from human obsessions, so they’re super weird and super powerful. One moment you’re fighting a giant mech tearing everything apart, and the next you’re up against something messing with your vision or changing forms mid-fight. They look unbeatable at first, but every one of them has a weakness — you just have to figure it out, use your Retrace skills smartly, and outplay them.
The world itself looks awesome, with a soft, colorful aesthetic that shifts depending on the mind you’re exploring. One maze might feel like ancient ruins, while another throws you into a futuristic city full of lights and chaos.
By taking down bosses, you earn Primary Modules, and you can find Secondary Modules hidden throughout the Mirrormazes. With 7 main module types and over 20 secondary ones, you can build your playstyle however you want — whether you want fast counterattacks, brute strength, or heavy charge moves.
As Decem, you’ll hang out with your allies on the Motherboard, head into Mirrormazes, talk things out, and slowly uncover the truth. And depending on the choices you make, the story branches into multiple different endings.
