In Éalú, you guide a wooden clockwork mouse as it makes its way from the maze’s center to its edge. You will solve clever puzzles, uncover hidden clues and face moments that might just test your nerves. It’s a short but artistic point-and-click adventure made by a tiny, insanely dedicated team. Most players will finish it in about 2 to 5 hours, but it’s the kind of game that sticks with you because of how beautifully everything’s put together — the visuals, the wordless story, the music — all blending into something that feels like you’re controlling a character in an old silent film.
What makes Éalú even cooler is how it was made. Every single animation was done in real life — frame by frame — using handmade sets, props, and an actual wooden mouse model. Over 500 clips were shot by one animator (in a garden shed, no less!) and then stitched together in Unity by a single developer to make the movements feel seamless. The soundtrack was fully composed and recorded just for the game, and all the illustrations were drawn by hand.
No big budget. No crowdfunding. Just four people — Ivan Owen, Benjamin Orr, Will Wood, and JT Paton — making something they truly believed in. And it shows.
