Survival is a key. You will need to scavenge for supplies like Almond Water to stay alive, keep your flashlight powered with batteries, and use vending machines to stave off hunger and thirst. If you’re lucky (or unlucky), you might even stumble upon the Manila Room by noclipping through certain walls.
For those who prefer the fight-or-flight approach i hidden weapons can help fend off threats like Partygoers, Smilers, and Hazmat entities. If combat’s not your thing, you can disable enemies and just explore the Backrooms at your own pace. There are also difficulty settings to tailor the experience to how much terror you can handle.
The game supports both VR and desktop play a letting you seamlessly switch between the two. If you’re playing in VR, you can interact with the environment—splash around in the Poolrooms, grab items, and really feel like you’re trapped in this endless nightmare.
Some VR headsets may have compatibility issues since testing is still in progress. If you’re using a Quest headset, make sure to adjust your Open XR settings in the Oculus app to avoid display glitches caused by an Unreal Engine bug. This game is a built in Unreal Engine 5, so don’t try running it on a toaster.
