OVERVIEW OF TWO FALLS
Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina) is a first-person, narrative-driven game that puts you in the shoes of two characters from different worlds, both facing their own struggles in the Canadian wilderness. The game dive’s into the first encounters between the French and Indigenous peoples, showing both sides of the story. Get ready to explore some intense survival moments, make tough choices and see how your decision’s impact the live’s of the characters.
Set in 17th century Canada, you’ll play as Jeanne, a French woman stranded far from the colonies after her ship wrecks. She’s alone with only her dog, Capitaine, and a will to survive in the harsh wilderness. As Jeanne tries to make her way to Quebec, her faith will be tested, and you’ll have to decide whether she stays true to her beliefs or does whatever it takes to survive in an unforgiving land.
On the other side, you’ve got Maikan, a young Innu hunter from a small community who’s on a quest to figure out what’s ruining the land of his ancestors. After discovery something sinister threatening his people, Maikan heads west to uncover the truth. As you play, you will experience the contrasting perspective’s of both Jeanne and Maikan, each facing their own challenges and navigating their worlds in their own way. The game is divided into two artistic and musical directions that reflect each character’s point of view, making each event feel drastically different depending on who you’re playing as.
The gameplay is all about exploration and inspection almost like a detective story. You will explore unique environments from the 17th century and every decision you make will pull you deep into the mystery, to make you question your own values and beliefs.
Even though Two Falls follows a linear path, your choices still shape how Jeanne and Maikan grow and change throughout their journey. As they face the chaos of their worlds colliding, you’ll feel every victory and loss on a personal level.
This game is not just about storytelling—it is a collaboration with Indigenou’s creator’s to bring authenticity and respect to the narrative’s. The composer, art director, writers, and even some of the actors are all from Indigenous communities in Canada, and the game is guided by a Council of Elders to ensure it reflects their stories in the most meaningful way possible.
With stunning environments made with Unreal Engine 5, you’ll be fully immersed in this adventure. The rich, emotional story will challenge you, and the unique perspectives of Jeanne and Maikan will make you rethink everything you know about survival, tradition, and first contact.
