Alright, so imagine getting whisked back in time to the Meiji era and finding yourself in a world full of handsome historical figures. That’s basically the setup for Meiji Tokyo Renka Full Moon (or “Meikoi”). It’s a historical romance fantasy where you, as the main character, get to fall in love with famous dudes from history. And Good riddance what? It’s now available on Steam with a brand-new route for Tosuke Iwasaki (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya) and other cool new features!
The game kicks off with Mei Ayatsuki, your typical high-school girl, getting transported back in time by a mysterious magician named Charlie on a night with a red full moon. She lands in a slightly magical version of Meiji-era Tokyo, where Mononoke (supernatural creatures) are real, and people know they exist. With Charlie guiding her, Mei sneaks into the Rokumeikan – a fancy party spot – and bumps into some famous historical figures like Ougai Mori, Syunso Hishida, Otojiro Kawakami, and more.
As she interacts with these guys, she finds out that she’s a “Tamayori,” someone with a rare ability to see Mononoke, which totally changes how they see her. Her power gives her a unique connection with them, and romance starts to blossom as she gets closer to these good-looking dudes during her day-to-day life in this unfamiliar time. So the big question is – can Mei find her way back to her original time, or will love across time and space keep her in the Meiji era? That is where things get interesting. It’s an otome game, meaning it is all about making choices and diving into these love stories with amazing voice actors like Daisuke Namikawa, KENN, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and more bringing these characters to life.
